A New Year...LOTS of New Adventures!

A lot has happened since November.  Thinking about where my mind was when I last posted and thinking about where I am now is so funny because my world has been turned upside down.

We have gone from a newly married couple ready to travel and camp and live off of ramen noodles to soon to be parents.  We found out back in mid-December that we were pregnant, and life has changed ever since for us, our friends, and family.  When people would initially ask how I was feeling back in January, my response was, I feel like all of my dreams and hopes and wishes are shattered in pieces in front of me, and now it is my job to figure out how to put the pieces back together in a new way.  I still think that that statement rings true today, but now I know that God is guiding me and showing me which pieces to pick up first, and that all of the pieces, all of my dreams and hopes are still there but they may just look a little different.  My picture of my life was shattered, but Gods plan for my life is right on track.

Fast forward since December and I am now 20 weeks pregnant, starting to show, and realizing that I am going to be a mom in August!  Just this last weekend Calen and I had the joy of finding out the sex of baby Lucas...This is how we told our family :-)  Sorry it's a little long!  I don't know how to edit videos yet! Haha!  And Calen didn't know you couldn't go sideways!!!  Haha we need to work on our video skills!

IT'S A BOY!  Our family was thrilled!  The grandmas knew from the beginning and are very pleased to have this little man coming soon into our lives.  And OF COURSE Calen is excited!  I don't even know if excited can explain how happy he is.  When the ultrasound tech told us that we were having a boy, Calen was silently fist pumping behind me!  Haha!  It sure was a happy moment.

The next day to celebrate, the Lucas/Richardson family headed out to Coronado to do a segway tour!!!  Here was our happy team!

We had a wonderful time.  We are so blessed to have such wonderful families who love us and love each other. We know that this little one is going to be SPOILED!

So after telling our families, we knew that we would have to have a big gathering to tell all of our friends the wonderful news!  It was great fun, because 90% of the people in our lives guessed that we were having a girl...so we SHOCKED everyone with a boy :-)  Here is our reveal to our friends:

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us.  We know that little Camden or Cody (those are our two name choices) will love each one of you as much as we do, and we cant wait for all of our play dates!

Thank you also for walking with us through this crazy time in our lives.  Be in prayer for Calen as he finishes up his first semester in graduate school at PLNU (getting his MBA,) pray for our job situation as we figure out what the next step should be with baby coming into the world, and pray for our spirits to be lifted and for us to be focused on God's plan, and not our own plans.

Love to you,

Calen, Kendall, and Baby Lucas

P.S. Ultrasound and baby belly pictures to come soon :-)
