Mid Week Update

I know that I just blogged on Monday, but I have a few updates for all of you Codi fans out there. After taking Codi to his 2 month check up at the doctor I stood corrected about his weight...You will never believe it. In just 2 weeks he has gained 2 lbs making him a chunky 11.1 lbs!!!! I was shocked! My little guy is getting so big! He is also 23 1/4 inches long and in the 25% for both height and weight. In the doctors words, he is perfect.

And I have to say, the shots were hard, but not as hard as I thought they would be. There are a lot of different opinions about which shots to give your newborn--do you give them all of the shots your doctors recommends, just take them one at a time, wait until they are a bit older? Well, after my own research I decided to trust the expert and go with what my doctor recommended which was give him all of the shots. I held his hands as the nurse quickly gave him 5 shots in his little legs and as soon as they were done, I scooped him up with tears in my eyes and cuddled that boy the rest of the day! He was such a trooper. He cried while they gave him his shots, but as soon as I held him against me, he quieted right up and just cuddled into me. For the rest of the day he ate and slept and was only a little cranky. He did have a slight fever of 99.8 for most of the night, but once I gave him some tylenol the fever went away. He woke up the next morning good as new!

As I am in the last month of my maternity leave, I am trying to soak up every little minute with my special man. He makes every day so special and he has captured my heart in no time!

Hope you all have a fantastic week and weekend!

A Few Firsts

I said it in my last post and I will say it again, time is FLYING BY! I cannot believe that Codi is already 10 weeks old! And he is continuing to develop and change daily and is already 9 lbs. Our routine is pretty much the same as my last post: most happy in the early morning, kicking around on his mat, eating, sleeping, pooping, and lots of laughter BUT there are two new REALLY exciting additions to our day! First, after spending another week at Grandma and Grandpa Richardson's house, Codi has begun to pull himself up off of my legs while holding my fingers and keeping his neck steady. He thought that sitting up (with some help of course) was pretty darn cool! BUT just today he took it a step further and is now sitting up AND straightening his legs! The boy thinks that he can stand up! He is literally holding himself up with just a bit of help! His legs are SO strong it scares me! He is going to skip crawling completely! Haha! Just look at our big boy--His 2 month old pictures!

The second exciting thing that Codi is starting to do is sleep longer through the night!! Yippee!!! I am not holding my breath as I know this can change at any moment, but last week Codi started to sleep 5-7 hours at a time through the night! Last night he slept from 9:30 to almost 4 and then from 4:30 to 8:30!!! What a dream right! I am hoping that we can keep up this schedule at least for a bit as I am feeling extremely well rested!!!

While we were visiting HB last week, Codi, my dad, and I took a trip to visit Codi's Great Grandma and Great Aunts and Uncles! Codi was such a good boy as he flashed that adorable smile and those beautiful blue eyes. It was so fun to see my family oohing and awwing over my little guy. I think everyone agreed that he is a handsome little man.

Codi has has a lot of "firsts" this week! We took him to the San Diego Zoo for the first time this weekend and had SUCH a good time! Since his neck is now secure enough to go in the baby pack, we were able to carry him around out of the stroller so he could see everything! Being the silly Mommy and Daddy that we are, we left the house with no hat and no sunscreen for Codi. Oops! SO when we got to the Zoo we headed straight to the store to get Codi a hat to wear. Calen picked out a floppy hat with animals stitched into it! Adorable--even if it is 10 sizes too large for him at the moment. It got the job done! He loved looking around at all of the colors and lasted in the pack for about 40 minutes! Yay!

Today we also have a first...Codi's first shots. NOT looking forward to that one! I am making Calen come with me as I don't think I would be able to hold it together by myself. I am hoping that Codi will take it well and that it won't be as bad as I am expecting. Poor little dude. I will have to give you an update on how he does in my next post.

On a MUCH higher note, WE HAVE FOUND SOMEONE TO WATCH CODI WHEN I GO BACK TO WORK! PRAISE GOD! She is a friend of a friend from church, a mom of a 7 year old boy who is extremely sweet and able to come and watch Codi at our home while Calen and I are at work. It was God's perfect timing for both of us as she is looking for work while her son is at school, and I am looking for someone who will be able to take great care of Codi...and who better than a mom! Like I said, God is good and His timing is perfect. Got to love those God moments.

OK! I think that is it for now. Keep us in your prayers as we get Codi's shots today. We love you all!
